Hair Removal
Sirius by Ellipse with IPL Technology
Utilising the latest evolution in Laser & IPL technologies, Sirius by Ellipse is the most popular method for the removal of unwanted hair, superfast, safe and NHS approved.
To achieve long lasting or permanent hair reductionl, it is necessary to destroy the hair follicle from which individual hairs grow. Controlled pulses of light penetrate the epidermis and are absorbed by melanin in the hair contained in the follicle.
Melanin converts the light energy into heat. This heat is transferred to the hair follicle, which is destroyed, making it unable to produce a new hair. The treatment is only effective on growing hairs as these are still attached to the follicle. Hair in the resting (telogen stage) are treated later. This technique is called “Selective Photothermolysis”.
The visible light produced by Ellipse IPL systems is carefully controlled to ensure the correct pulse length, wavelengths and right amount of energy to destroy the follicle.

Hair Removal – FAQs
Q: How many treatments do I need to make it permanent?
A:Every hair has a life cycle; it grows for a period of time, falls out, rests and then starts to grow again. Everyone is different but we normally advise that it can take 9-12 sessions to be successful with additional interval treatments. Only hairs that are growing can be treated – so you need to repeat the treatment at intervals until all hair follicles have been treated while growing. The length and timing of the growth cycles are affected by numerous factors such as body site, hormone levels and age. Typically the intervals between treatments are typically 1-3 months.
Q: Can I continue removing the hair in between treatments?
A: You can only shave in-between treatments so no tweezing, waxing, sugaring or creams can be used. This is really important in order for the treatment to be successful.
Q: Is IPL the same as laser hair removal?
A: Most people will class both IPL and laser hair removal as the same. Both offer effective solutions for long term hair reduction but IPL uses a different wavelength of light therapy to treat the area.
